Rugby Town News covers Rugby in Warwickshire, the town and the borough around it, not the sport it gave its name to. Rugby is a railway town with a school the game is named after, sitting where the West Coast Main Line, the M6 and the M1 all come close together. That location is most of its modern story: a lot of people here work in Birmingham, Coventry or London, and a lot of warehousing has gone up around the edges. Bilton, Hillmorton, Brownsover, Dunchurch, Wolston and Long Lawford make up the rest of the borough.

Rugby Town News reports what the record shows. Rugby Borough Council publishes its planning register, licensing notices, committee papers and spending, and in a borough taking this much development that paperwork is where next year’s arguments are already written down. We read it and report what is in it, with a link to the document on every fact.

Start with these

  • Rugby house prices: the borough average was £274,942 in May 2026, up 0.2%, the weakest rise in Warwickshire. Median sold prices for all 15 wards, and why New Bilton looks cheaper than it is.
  • Trains to London: 52 minutes to Euston at best, and a £3,300 a year gap between two season tickets that ride the same 57-minute trains.
  • Roadworks and parking: every town car park’s tariff, including the two that charge £5 for eleven hours where four charge £10, plus the dated resurfacing programme for the A426 and the villages.
  • Things to do in Rugby: both museums free to walk into, five Green Flag parks, and the Draycote circular route that is currently shut.
  • Planning: 10,812 homes in the submitted Local Plan, with examination hearings opening on 17 November 2026.

Every fact links to the document it came from.
